Durham and Chapel Hill Wedding 3/26/11
Kate and James were married on a cool day in March at Duke Chapel, with dinner and dancing following at the Carolina Club. James is a Duke grad and Kate is a Carolina grad, so the venues represented both of their college towns. Their love for the outdoors and simple, tasteful style shined through in the details of the reception. Let me tell you: this was a party crowd! When Kate told me she wanted 2 hours of uninterrupted time on the dancefloor, I was skeptical, but no doubt it was packed the whole time. Here are some photos of their special day, courtesy of J.B. Haygood Photography.
Without any added decoration, Duke Chapel is stunning.
I love this sweet moment with her dad.
Kate and James did a "first look," and wow, you can see the pure joy and love!
Totally unplanned, the bridesmaids all had colorful spring cardigans.

Kate's brother cut and carved this awesome stand for the cake!
Yellow daffodils and spring flowers were clustered around the room for the perfect touch of early spring.
The escort card table was cascading with river rocks and yellow button mums.
We created curly willow "trees" with hanging tea lights that made a gorgeous glow as the sun went down.
Guests enjoyed looking at photos of Kate, James, family and friends, which were placed all over the room and on guest tables.
Kate's dad made these! He's hired...we now have a carpenter on the Gather Together team.
Conga line: I honestly think 90% of guests participated, including the groom's parents seen here. DJ Ken Holmes kept everyone dancing to say the least.
An "OMG we're married!" moment.
The rain ruined the sparklers exit, so rose petals we took from the dining tables were tossed as Kate & James made their way out of the Carolina Club.
Congratulations again to Kate and James! Many thanks to the super vendors who made this come together and to amazing assistants Samantha Kozub and Laura Petersen!
