Dazzling the Dem's
Election season is in full swing, so Gather Together is fulfilling its patriotic duty by planning one of the welcome events for the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, NC! We have teamed up with our friends at New Century Planning to design and produce one of the 12 welcome receptions to be held throughout the city on Sunday, September 2nd. This event, held at the historic Duke Mansion, is going to be the talk of the town!

Each welcome event was charged with telling the story of Charlotte. The historic Duke Mansion was built in 1915, but reached its peak in the 1920s after Mr. James Buchanan Duke purchased the home for his family. One can only imagine the fancy soirees the Duke family held in such a grandiose manor. For the event, we intend to recreate that feeling for guests from both near and far.
This "Roaring '20s Charlotte" shindig will highlight the best of the era. Over 250 delegates will arrive at the event, greeted by the sprawling front porch of the mansion. Between the impressive southern columns, guests will enjoy a whiskey and cigar bar under the NC September sky. As they enter the doors, the big-band beat of the Bobby Umber Band will draw guests into the affair.

Spirits and scrumptious bites will be passed upon arrival. As the evening continues, guests will have the opportunity to take photos with flapper girls, peruse the Art Deco-style posters created by students at the Art Institute of Charlotte, or just settle into a comfy lounge to mingle with other delegates. Whether the guest is from one town or one continent over, there will be something fun for all.
Some of our inspiration for the event
Chelsey and Mariah head down early tomorrow morning. We can't wait to share how it all comes together! Happy Labor Day weekend!
'Til we Gather Together again...
